SIFA is an initiative of the Africa Union (AU) supported by the Federal Republic of Germany and is implemented by the AUDA NEPAD. This Initiative responds to Africa’s Agenda 2063 which recognizes that the future of the continent rests on skills, knowledge, talents and commitments of its young people. Kenya is among 8 pilot countries in the continent benefiting from the initiative. others include: Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Togo and Tunisia.
Kisii National Polytechnic project proposal “Building Capacity to Deliver Skills Programmes for Agricultural Value Chain”won a grant of 3 Million Euros through a competitive selection. The grant will cover construction, rehabilitation/expansion of learning infrastructure, procurement of training equipment, training of trainers, curriculum design and learner scholarships.
The signing of the SIFA implementation agreement for Kisii National polytechnic is a significant milestone for the NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat whose key objective is to coordinate AUDA-NEPAD programmes in the country.
The implementation of the programmes will contribute to the promotion of the value chains under the bottom up economic transformation Agenda of government.
The signing ceremony took place at Jogoo house B, Nairobi City County. the signing ceremony was witnessed by among others Dr. Rose Kitur, Director NEPAD Programmes, NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat on behalf of Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Ngeno, representing the chairman, Kisii National Polytechnic council. and Mr. Wamwangi AUDA NEPAD SIFA consultant.
