The Initiative is a project within the framework of Africa Union (AU) and German Cooperation covered by an agreement between the federal Republic of Germany and the Africa Union Commission signed on 13th July 2015. It responds to Africa’s Agenda 2063 which recognizes that the future of the continent rests on skills, knowledge, talents and commitments of its young people.

Kenya, Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia have been selected to be part of the initial implementing countries and the programme was launched in Kenya on 5thMay, 2017.
