The Chief Executive Officer, AUDA-NEPAD, Ms. Nardos Bekele today paid a courtesy visit to Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya the Chief Executive Officer, NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat, in a move aimed at fostering deeper ties between the two organisations, both committed to the advancement of Africa’s socio-economic growth and development.

During the visit, Ms. Nardos and Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya engaged in a fruitful deliberation aimed at exploring avenues of collaboration and exchange of best practices. Key areas of focus included; Agenda 2063, Sustainable Development, Infrastructure, economic growth, and capacity building. Additionally, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working together to address the challenges facing the African Continent among them; Climate Change, gender inequality, job creation and food security.

Consequently, Ms. Bekele in her remarks underscored her commitment to strengthening the cooperation and work ethic between AUDA-NEPAD and NEPAD/APRM Kenya secretariat. She emphasised that the two organisations hold pivotal roles in the African Union’s overarching goal of realizing Agenda 2063, a comprehensive blueprint for Africa’s transformation.

Subsequently, Ms. Bekele met with Mr. James Muhati, the Principal Secretary, National Treasury and Economic Planning, who highlighted the importance of Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) process in promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability across the continent. He mentioned that Kenya’s active participation in this mechanism and its commitment to undergoing peer reviews were recognized as exemplary steps toward achieving the African Union’s goal of a prosperous and peaceful Africa.
