First Lady roots for women empowerment First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has expressed the need for a concerted effort to ensure women are accorded equal opportunities as men. The First Lady said although the country has made progress in women empowerment, there is need to push for the trend to continue upward. She spoke when she presided over the official launch of the book ‘From Glass Ceilings to Open Skies’ written by Ms Evelyn Mungai.

The book focuses on women in business, leadership and mentoring and tells stories of the achievements of 30 women of influence from Kenya, Africa and beyond.

We’ve delivered more development in Coast than any other previous Govt, says President Kenyatta President Uhuru Kenyatta said the Jubilee Administration has delivered more development in the Coast region than any other previous regime, citing the expansion of the port of Mombasa that is aimed at making it a net exporter of goods manufactured in the country as an example.

The President said his government also plans to put up industrial parks at Dongo Kundu, Voi, Konza, Naivasha and Kisumu where goods for export will be manufactured and transported through the Standard Gauge Railway to the Mombasa port for shipping across the globe.
