The NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat today joins Africa to celebrate the importance of all young people in the continent.

The theme this year is ‘Defining the Future Today: Youth-led Solutions for Building the Africa We Want

Instituted by the Africa Union commission, November 1st is proclaimed every year to promote and increase the recognition of youth as key agents for social change, economic growth and sustainable development in all areas of the African Society. Additionally, this day and the whole month of November will be centred on the participation of youth in Democracy, Good Governance processes and participation towards the Agenda 2063.

The NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat through its thematic area; Human Capital Development Skills and Programs such as Youth training and Education, help the youth possess important knowledge and skills to aid inclusive and equitable economic growth and sustainable development.

Further, through the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) thematic area such as Democracy and Political Governance, Economic Governance and Management, Corporate Governance and Socio-economic Development, the youth have an opportunity to engage in issues of governance through public participation hence gain a clear decision making and leadership progression which leverages their framework.

In Africa, the youth continue to be an important resource, and their immense energy, innovativeness, and resilience are imperative to harnessing demographic dividend.

We wish all the young people of Africa, a Happy Africa Youth Day.
