NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat is undertaking a Monitoring on the Kainuk-Lokichar-Lodwar-Lokichogio-Nadapal highway which involves inspection of the various components of the corridor in collaboration with implementing and coordinating agencies : Kenya National Highways Authority,Kenya Revenue Authority,Kenya Ports Authority,LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority and Kenya Airports Authority.

The team paid a courtesy call to the County Commissioner of Turkana County Mr. Julius Kavita who expressed his support for the LAPSSET corridor and acknowledged its potential to transform the the economic landscape of the region.
The team also visited the County Government and met county leadership led by the Deputy County Secretary who emphasized the importance of the corridor in transforming the county. They were appreciative of the socio economic projects which are soon to be handed over to the county.
The week’s activities began with the monitoring of the highway,the Rapid Response Units in Kainuk and Lodwar,Lodwar customs office the truck parkings and socio-economic infrastructure projects such as Sangak primary school and Napetao health Centre.
The LAPSSET Corridor is a Programme for Infastructure Development in Africa under the AU and is a Presidental Infastructure Championship Intiative and a flagship programme in the AU Agenda 2063 building towards an integrated continent.
